Danielson Motor Company Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Janet Coogan, Dean of Instruction and the proud daughter of Chester (Chet) Danielson and her husband Patrick Coogan on Father’s Day 2013. Janet proudly presented the establishment of this scholarship to her dad who she describes as generous, loyal, caring, community-minded, and compassionate. The Danielson family has a rich history in Fairfield, Iowa and Janet wanted to honor her family’s legacy by establishing a scholarship that could help students in the Auto Tech, Diesel Tech and Auto Collision Repair Programs at Scott Community College.
Danielson Motor Company was a family business started in 1919 by Janet’s grandparents, Frank and Martha Danielson. It was a family operation with Frank serving as CEO, Martha as the Bookkeeper, Chet as Sales Manager and Janet’s Uncle Chuck as the Service Manager. When Frank passed away the business was turned over to Chet. Chet served as the General Manager and finally CEO during his 49 years of service to Danielson Motor Company and he retired in 1995. During this 49 years, Chet and the family-owned dealership were recognized by the local community, AAA motors and Chrysler for their outstanding service and commitment.
Because of this scholarship a deserving student will receive the support they need to make their dreams in the auto industry a reality.
Preference will be given to students who meet the following criteria:
