Alvin C. Tingle Memorial Scholarship

The Alvin C. Tingle Memorial Scholarship was established at Scott Community College in 2015 in memory of Alvin Tingle a 1976 graduate of United Township High School. Alvin’s passion for food and recipe creations led him to a successful career in the culinary arts field. Alvin believed in supporting his community and especially its youth. This scholarship is an extension of his efforts.

Preference will be given to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Are enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) in the Culinary Arts program
  • Have a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
The student who receives this scholarship is required to maintain the above criteria in order to receive the Spring allocation.

Scholarship Use
This scholarship award is for two semesters. Half of the award will be added to your student account for the upcoming fall semester and the second half will be added for the spring semester.

This scholarship award can be used for tuition and to purchase textbooks. The award will go towards your tuition costs first, with any remaining amount available for you to use for books. To do this, you will need to work with the Financial Aid Office.
