IDEA Student Scholarship
The Iowa Organization for Student Success is pleased to offer a $500.00 scholarship to one currently enrolled college student who has excelled in developmental coursework.
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Successful completion (earning a C grade or higher) of at least one developmental course in the area of math, writing, reading, ELL, or study skills. If you are currently taking the class, the scholarship committee will verify successful completion when the course is over. *Developmental courses, also known as college-prep classes, prepare students for college-level course work. They include classes in the areas of math, reading, writing, and study skills. If you do not know if your classes meet this requirement, please email Justin Robertson at robertson_j@iowacentral.edu.
- A cumulative college grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Plans to continue enrollment in a post-secondary educational institution during the next academic year.
Applicants must submit the following:
- A 500-word, typed, double-spaced essay on the topic of: “How my involvement in a developmental education course(s) has helped me prepare for my future college courses."
- A copy of your most recent college transcript.
- A letter of recommendation from a school official, instructor, or counselor.
