IowaWORKS - Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program for Region 9 is coordinated by Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. Services are provided at the IowaWORKS office, 902 W. Kimberly Rd., Davenport IA, and at four county offices in Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott Counties. The program’s focus is on skilled employment. The WIOA program is one of many service providers in the IowaWORKS One Stop office who work collaboratively to help individuals become self-sufficient and reach employment goals.
All job seekers who visit the IowaWORKS office can access a wide range of free services including:
- Job search assistance
- National Career Readiness assessment
- Employment skills training and workshops
- Computer Literacy training
- Vocational testing
- Referral to appropriate agencies
- WIOA referral
WIOA can assist with training, however it is not a grant or financial aid, and it is not an entitlement program. WIOA counselors assist individuals in attaining skills and training necessary in order for them to become employed. In order to receive intensive training services through WIOA, you must be eligible for one of our programs, and you must be selected based on several criteria. Training Programs must be on the Approved Provider list for the state of Iowa.
