Gwendolyn Mix

The Gwendolyn Mix & Greta Faye Mix Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 in memory of Gwendolyn Mix and her sister, Greta Faye Mix. In spite of being deaf, Gwendolyn earned her bachelor’s degree in science and amazingly, she earned her degree without the help of an interpreter. After college, Gwendolyn became a lab technician and worked in a hematology lab, microbiology lab, and blood bank. Gwendolyn loved writing, theater, traveling, nature, and of course her family and friends. Gwendolyn wanted this scholarship to support students in the American Sign Language – English Interpreting Program at Scott Community College.
