Family of Ronald Curtis
For nearly four decades, Ronald Curtis dedicated his career to shaping the minds of students at Scott Community College, where he founded the Electronics Technology program. His impact on education and his unwavering commitment to his students continue to resonate within the college community. Now, his legacy lives on through the Ronald Curtis Memorial Scholarship, ensuring future generations have the opportunity to pursue their own educational dreams.
Ron was a teacher, a mentor, and a craftsman in every sense of the word. Whether in the classroom or his beloved “Papa’s Workshop,” he approached every endeavor with precision and passion. After retiring in 1998, he continued to teach in an adjunct capacity until 2002, a testament to his dedication to lifelong learning.
Beyond the classroom, Ron was an integral part of his community. A devoted member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church for nearly 60 years, he contributed in countless ways—from singing in the choir for over 50 years to serving as treasurer and even maintaining the church grounds. His generosity and leadership extended to the Scott County Christian Fellowship League and the Quad Cities Woodturners, where he found joy in sharing his craftsmanship with others.
Following Ron’s passing in April 2023, his family chose to honor his memory in a way that reflects his lifelong commitment to education. The Ronald Curtis Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing technical education—continuing Ron’s mission of empowering young minds through knowledge and skill.
Ron’s legacy is one of service, passion, and dedication. By supporting this scholarship, donors help carry forward his belief in the power of education to transform lives.
