Cindy Flanders

The Robert & Joyce Flanders Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 by Cindy Flanders, SCC Business Instructor, in remembrance of her dear parents Robert and Joyce Flanders. Robert Flanders was a welder who built cranes, and was also a self-taught plumber, carpenter and maintenance man. Joyce Flanders was a baker in school cafeterias for over thirty years. Together, they raised their family in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and left their three children with a legacy of honest hard work and determination, and a belief that education was the means to making a better life. In honor of their loving intentions, this scholarship will continue to help others achieve their educational goals by supporting a non-traditional student at Scott Community College.
